Job Overview The Events Manager is a summer seasonal position at the Bay Harbor Golf Club. They plan, direct, and execute the overall strategy for member events, weddings, and corporate events. They define staff goals, success metrics, and provide leadership for the events department. They implement best practices, develop event standards, policies, and procedures, review contracts, and ensure events run smoothly while exceeding client expectations. The team also promotes small meetings and social events for golf guests. Candidates must be available all shifts and days, including weekends and holidays during the peak summer season.
Responsibilities
Oversee and assist a team of Event Managers that coordinate and execute groups and events as contracted by the group sales team
Create, plan, and execute internal event activations and VIP events offered at the resort
Communicate verbally and through BEO and standard cover sheet documents to the Food and Beverage Team & Events Team
Be an ambassador for customer service
Ensure high-quality service standards are maintained through continuous reviews of processes and procedures
Plan for long-term development and success of the events/banquet/catering department
Work with F&B management and culinary team to assist in menu development for overall group food and beverage offerings
Contribute to the planning of future event spaces based on resort and industry standards
Develop, train, and support Event Managers to succeed in their roles
Recruit, manage, and schedule event set-up, banquet servers, bartenders, events captain, and support staff roles
Recruit, manage, and train event interns
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Boyne Group Sales Team
Source and track quotes to recommend purchase needs of the events department based on resort and industry standards
Conduct monthly and seasonal inventory and ordering of event wares, linens, uniforms, and supplies
Conduct on-site inspections and tours of facilities with prospective clients
Work one-on-one with various meeting planners and group contacts to determine group needs and activities
Administer, program, and maintain the Marriott CI/TY system for the department
Maintain key systems within the department by performing system audits, updates of pricing and offering details
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
5+ years of event-planning experience, including 3+ years at a manager or director level
Seniority Level Mid-Senior level
