Title Patient Relations Manager
Role Description The Patient Relations Manager educates patients about Medicare programs, resources, and affordable insurance coverage options to increase patient access to care and retention. Working within each clinic, you advocate for patients, navigate insurance options and bills, and serve as a resource to the care and outreach teams. You will be a key player during Medicare's Open Enrollment, ensuring patients are fully informed about their options. Reports to the Sr. PRM or Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
Assist patients with navigating Medicare and insurance issues, including coverage, benefits, summaries, eligibility, and maximizing their plans.
Serve as the internal insurance resource for providers and staff within the clinic.
Help patients resolve medical bills inside and outside Oak Street Health and advocate on their behalf.
Build trust with patients to provide accurate healthcare coverage guidance.
Lead the welcome visit and orientation process for new patients.
Educate patients on applying for public benefits such as Public Aid and Extra Help for prescription drugs.
Support clinic management on operational activities, including scheduling and billing.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Drive patient engagement through design and execution of events, including center tours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Proficient in computer use, including Gmail, MS Word/Google Docs, Excel, and other programs.
U.S. work authorization.
Embody the "Oaky" qualities of positive energy, good intentions, and ownership.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in a non‑English language such as Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by our patient community.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience helping patients or customers understand insurance coverage.
Passion for creating unmatched patient experiences.
Problem‑solving orientation with a flexible, positive attitude.
Sales background preferred.
Supportive attitude toward older adult patient population.
CRM experience a plus.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience navigating the healthcare system, especially Medicare and Managed Care.
