Anglican Church in North America
Position Profile: Assisting Clergyman
Incarnation Anglican Church – Canton, Georgia
A Mission of Christ the King Anglican Church (Marietta, GA)
OVERVIEW We are seeking an Assisting Priest or Deacon—a seasoned pastor and teacher with administrative competence, theological depth, and spiritual wisdom to strengthen the parish’s ministry of Word and Sacrament, equip the people of God for faithful living, and provide stabilizing leadership alongside Fr. Spencer.
Incarnation Anglican Church is a growing Anglican parish in Canton, Georgia, committed to the renewal of the Church through reverent worship, robust catechesis, and pastoral care deeply rooted in the Anglican tradition. IAC is a daughter church of Christ the King Anglican in Marietta, GA (Rector: Fr. Tony Melton). IAC is in the Reformed Episcopal Church (REC), a founding jurisdiction in the ACNA. As a young church plant under the leadership of Fr. Spencer Amaral, Incarnation is entering a new season of growth and maturity.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will bring maturity, steadiness, and intelligence to the pastoral team. This role is best suited for someone who:
Balances holiness with pragmatism—a person of prayer and integrity who can also make things happen administratively.
Brings wisdom and perspective, likely mid‑career or older, but still energetic enough for the rhythms and demands of church planting.
Thrives as a “second chair” leader, offering loyalty, initiative, and stability in a supporting role under the Rector.
Preaches and teaches with clarity, insight, and theological substance, providing the parish with thoughtful and engaging exposition of Scripture and doctrine.
Loves the Anglican way—fully committed to the liturgical, sacramental, and catholic identity of the Church, leaning toward the Anglo‑Catholic tradition rather than Reformed or Evangelical expressions.
We will consider younger clergy who demonstrate remarkable maturity and teachability, including those in need of a curacy—but the preference is for a priest of experience and pastoral gravitas.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Preaching, Teaching, and Catechesis
Regularly preach and celebrate at Sunday liturgies.
Develop and lead catechetical and theological formation for adults and youth.
Bring academic depth and spiritual vitality to parish teaching.
Pastoral Care
Share in the cure of souls with Fr. Spencer through visitation, counseling, and spiritual direction.
Provide wise and steady pastoral presence amid complex personal and family situations.
Foster a culture of prayer, reconciliation, and holiness among the congregation.
Administration and Leadership
Assist in coordinating parish operations, communications, and ministry systems.
Support Fr. Spencer in staff and volunteer management, calendaring, and parish organization.
Offer administrative foresight to prevent crises and strengthen the church’s infrastructure.
DESIRED QUALITIES
A mature, prayerful, and teachable priest with a grounded interior life.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Intellectual curiosity and theological precision.
Relational warmth and pastoral gentleness without a need for spotlight.
A deep love for Anglican liturgy, tradition, and sacramental theology.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 (commensurate with experience, education, and income needs).
Benefits include housing allowance, retirement contributions, and continuing education opportunities.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Applicants should submit:
A CV or résumé outlining ministry experience and education.
An audio or video file demonstrating preaching or teaching ability.
A brief cover letter describing your vocational call, theological orientation, and interest in serving at Incarnation Anglican Church.
