Duties and Responsibilities – Customer Service

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.

Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.

Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalation to Store Director as needed.

Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one‑on‑one interactions.

Department Operations

Possess knowledge of duties performed by all department employees; assist with preparation, baking, decorating, and product display.

Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.

Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels.

Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of bakery area and equipment; maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Monitor and maintain proper temperatures during preparation, display, and storage.

Understand and follow opening and closing procedures.

Team Leadership

Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.

Ensure adequate coverage and service levels through effective scheduling.

Communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to team members.

Planning & Reporting

Assist with planning daily operations and monitor production processes following company procedures and profitability goals.

Prepare sales and inventory reports; assist with physical inventory every 4 weeks.

Accurately complete and maintain daily log sheets, production charts, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork.

Inventory & Merchandising

Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives.

Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize cooler.

Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled products.

Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.

Ensure proper code dating for all products.

Receiving & Compliance

Perform receiving duties: breakdown loads, verify orders, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate product.

Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.

Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.

Control shrink and cost.

Additional Responsibilities

Attend and participate in sales meetings as needed.

Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Ability to follow and maintain department standards.
