Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.

Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.

Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via:

Telephone

In-store intercom announcements

One-on-one customer interactions

Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and elevate to Store Director as needed.

Product Preparation & Quality

Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees; assist with:

Preparation, baking, decorating, and displaying products

Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.

Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels.

Ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of bakery area and equipment; maintain a safe work environment.

Monitor and maintain correct temperatures during preparation, display, and storage.

Operations & Scheduling

Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.

Ensure adequate coverage and service levels through effective scheduling.

Assist with planning daily operations and monitor production processes for compliance and profitability.

Inventory & Reporting

Assist with preparing sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every 4 weeks.

Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives.

Stock and rotate products; maintain and organize cooler.

Understand and execute opening and closing department procedures.

Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled products.

Compliance & Standards

Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department.

Follow and maintain department standards.

Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.

Receiving & Administrative Duties

Perform receiving duties including:

Breaking down loads

Verifying orders using invoices

Inspecting quality and reporting shortages

Stocking and rotating products

Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.

Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.

Complete and monitor daily log sheets, production charts, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation.

Shrink Control & Cost Management

Control shrink and manage costs effectively.

May attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to team members.
