Junior Specialist, Wine & Spirits (Auction) - Temporary
Christie’s, the world’s largest art business, seeks a Junior Specialist for Wine & Spirits Auctions. This temporary role supports cataloguing and sales activities across our auctions.
Responsibilities You will work between the Rockefeller Center office and the Wine Cellarage Warehouse in the Bronx, contributing to the production of all auction catalogues for New York live and online sales. Key responsibilities include:
Processing consigned property for sale, including research, catalogue entry and proofing.
Inspecting wine for live and online sales; typing condition notes and proofing listings for accuracy.
Coordinating with IT, Lot Finder Team, Web Production, Business Support, Photography, and Warehouse groups for sale production.
Writing and preparing catalogue essays and producer headers.>
Maintaining image inventory and producer header spreadsheets.
Flagging authenticity or condition issues to appropriate specialists.
Preparing lots with the Head of Department and proofing all cataloguing with specialists.
Managing JDE lot adjustments, sale room notices, and related data entry.
Coordinating photography through OrbitVu and maintaining media library records.
Assisting with event coordination and logistics.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree and/or WSET Advanced degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 2 years paid experience in the wine industry.
Proficiency with Excel and willingness to learn Christie’s systems.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment.
Strong client‑service skills and discretion with confidential information.
Strong follow‑up skills and prioritisation.
Compensation Hourly: $24.00 – $26.00.
