General Purpose As Area Loss Prevention Manager (ALPM) you protect Ross Stores’ assets while achieving shortage and safety goals for assigned stores, district(s), or area. You lead loss prevention initiatives, partner with store and district leadership, and develop a high‑performance team of store‑based Loss Prevention associates.

Essential Functions Minimizing Operational Shortage

Achieve shortage reduction goals.

Understand and respond to shortage processes and analytics.

Identify shortage risks through indicator reports and develop action plans.

Conduct consistent, objective loss prevention shortage audits.

Coach store leadership and associates on best practice execution.

Promote shortage awareness through store programs.

Support inventory processes.

Adhere to budget guidelines.

Mitigating Theft & Fraud

Identify, investigate, and resolve theft and fraud incidents.

Maximize utilization of merchandise protection tools.

Ensure consistent execution of deterrence resources.

Leverage reporting systems to identify theft activity.

Drive resolution and case closure with corporate Investigative Analyst team.

Maintain confidentiality during internal investigations.

Drive SPS program and develop store‑based associates.

Maintain accurate records of theft activity.

Increase store‑level awareness of theft and fraud techniques.

Share expertise on physical security during openings, remodels, and expansions.

Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment

Achieve accident reduction goals for general liability and workers’ compensation.

Conduct regular safety audits for accident prevention standards.

Promote a safety‑first culture and support incentive awards.

Participate in conference calls to raise awareness of safety initiatives.

Execute crisis management and incident response.

Provide physical security expertise for store technologies.

Regularly evaluate building integrity and address equipment failure.

Developing Great Teams & Partnerships

Train leadership and associates on loss prevention initiatives.

Assist in awareness campaigns on shortage and safety control.

Maintain partnerships with corporate loss prevention and field peers.

Foster collaboration with other internal organizations.

Drive performance management culture.

Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop SPS associates.

Promote effective internal communication.

Leverage external partnerships with law enforcement and retail theft organizations.

Develop and update training materials.

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

BA degree or higher preferred, preferably in Business or Criminal Justice, or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of related multi‑unit loss prevention and/or retail experience.

Experience driving successful loss prevention, shortage control, accident reduction, and fraud prevention programs.

Self‑motivated and able to succeed in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Strong decision making under pressure.

Excellent organizational skills, detail‑oriented.

Maintains confidentiality of information and projects.

Values integrity.

Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Knowledge of loss prevention technologies (CCTV, exception reporting) is advantageous.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Primary work in office, mostly computer based.

Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on telephone, attending in‑person meetings, typing, working with paper/files.

Consistent timeliness and attendance required.

Vision required to read information.

Travel required.

Must stand for prolonged periods (up to 8 hours).

Frequent computer work (up to 8 hours) with repetitive arm/hand motions.

Role may use a combination of in‑office and remote work.

Supervisory Responsibilities Shared supervisory responsibility for up to 75 store‑based Loss Prevention associates (SPS) within assigned stores, district(s), or area.
