Community Relations Specialist – HACLA
Join the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) as a Community Relations Specialist. The role focuses on creating, implementing, and evaluating community‑based outreach initiatives across HACLA’s fourteen public housing developments.
The position requires close coordination with Department Heads, elected officials, community‑based organizations, and residents to strengthen the Authority’s presence as a valued neighbor.
Essential Functions
Partner with residents and advocates within the public housing community.
Assist the Department Head in developing and promoting community‑relations opportunities.
Represent HACLA at community meetings.
Work on behalf of Directors to develop plans and promote new and ongoing initiatives.
Collaborate and coordinate with other operating units as needed.
Perform related job functions as required.

Work Environment The role operates in a professional office setting and in community field sites. It involves the use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.).
Physical Demands Regular talking or hearing, standing, and walking. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Position Type & Hours Full‑time; Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; occasional evening or weekend work possible.
Travel Primarily local business‑day travel; occasional out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be expected.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work or a related field.
Experience:
Three years of responsible community‑work experience. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Driver’s License:
Valid California Class C driver’s license.
