Compensation
Base salary $40,000–$110,000 plus commissions: 50%‑150% of monthly recurring charges, 1/12 of one‑time non‑recurring charges, 1/24 of burst. Pay increases are based on tenure and performance.
Responsibilities
Identify new business opportunities in the assigned regional sales territory, targeting IP transit, content hosters, carrier/wholesalers, and netcentric segments.
Qualify prospects and generate new opportunities through direct calling, email outreach, and other prospecting efforts targeting key decision makers.
Support prospecting and selling efforts with onsite customer meetings as required.
Apply consultative and relationship‑building techniques to recommend Cogent connectivity solutions.
Leverage Cogent’s global network footprint—including commercial/retail buildings, carrier‑neutral hotels, data centers, and colocation facilities—to position services to prospects.
Qualifications
3–8+ years of B2B sales experience in a telecom arena, with collateral, wholesale, data transit, or transport focus.
Track record of quota achievement in a direct hunting sales role.
Proven prospecting, qualifying, and new‑business generation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, revenue‑deadline environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
College degree preferred but not required.
Work Environment
In‑office, five days a week, with focused mentorship, training, and coaching.
