Position Purpose Locates, develops, and manages suppliers of non-production parts, and services. Negotiates price and commercial issues with suppliers. Facilitates communication between Hendrickson and suppliers and during PPAP process. Executes purchase orders and material releases to supply production, non-production and service requirements utilizing MRP, JIT/KANBAN and vendor managed processes.

Essential Functions

Negotiate contracts, pricing and commercial issues with suppliers using an RFQ process and soliciting bids from multiple suppliers.

MRO responsibilities for Hebron facility including ordering key supplies for the manufacturing lines via PO, as well as auditing current inventory levels at the various workstations at both buildings.

Maintain contractor compliance and safety for the Hebron facility.

Maintain positive supplier relationships through regular meetings and reviews of supplier performance.

Develop and implement cost reduction programs and commodity resourcing strategies.

Interact with all Hendrickson departments to ensure on time and steady flow of material at the right price.

Obtain supplier documentation as needed for the USMCA and IMDS process.

Track supplier order fill performance with a goal of 95% for commodities assigned. Identify and champion inventory and overhead reduction initiatives to reduce costs.

Place and track Purchase Orders with suppliers to fully support production, non-production, and service demand. Maintain organized and complete records pertaining to suppliers, parts, and pricing.

Follow up on deliveries to ensure tracking information is provided to Receiving for parts that are showing as shortages to the production line, engage with suppliers to obtain corrected documentation when delivery loads don’t match the PO or the shipment documentation.

Document cost savings monthly.

Ensure POs are closed in a timely manner.

Support departmental escalation policy.

Support departmental cross-training initiatives.

Maintain regular attendance.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

High school diploma / GED required.

Minimum Qualifications

2+ years’ experience in planning/purchasing in manufacturing environment preferred.

Understanding of MRP, KANBAN, JIT, FIFO.

Organized, detailed and able to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple responsibilities.

Excellent communication, negotiation and supplier management skills.

Team oriented and able to lead implementation teams.

Excellent PC skills and experienced with windows-based productivity software.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary office setting for a majority of the day.

Frequent movement of hands, wrists, and fingers such as typing, filing, and writing.

This position requires frequent interaction with the production floor work centers, which includes walking, standing, and using appropriate safety equipment.

Environmental Conditions

Minimal exposure to hot and cold working areas.

Minimal exposure to loud noises.

Occasional exposure to office designated area.
