Production Manager

Location: Belding, MI Reports to: Vice President of Engineering Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: Up to $110,000 annually (commensurate with experience) Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with company match, Paid Time Off, and opportunities for advancement Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Leadership: Direct and manage all production activities, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation, to ensure on-time delivery of fiberglass and stainless steel tanks. Technical Oversight: Provide hands-on leadership and technical guidance on the manufacturing processes specific to fiberglass/composite fabrication, ensuring optimal material usage and structural integrity of the final product. Quality and Compliance: Implement and enforce rigorous quality control standards and procedures, ensuring all manufactured products meet customer specifications, industry regulations, and internal quality benchmarks. Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower manufacturing costs. Safety Management: Champion a proactive safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to all EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) policies and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Team Development: Lead, mentor, and evaluate production personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment focused on skill development and accountability. Inventory and Maintenance: Coordinate with supply chain management to ensure optimal inventory levels and oversee the preventative maintenance and repair of all production machinery and equipment. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing) or a related technical field. Equivalent extensive experience in a specialized manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience: Minimum of 3 + years of progressive experience in a manufacturing leadership role (e.g., Production Supervisor, Production Manager). Mandatory Technical Expertise: Non-negotiable hands-on experience and proven technical proficiency with fiberglass, composite materials, or a related specialized fabrication process. Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing and motivating a medium to large production team in a high-mix, high-value industrial setting. Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001). Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in the tank, vessel, pressure equipment, or related heavy industrial manufacturing sectors. Certification or formal training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), or other continuous improvement methodologies. Direct experience managing both composite (fiberglass/FRP) and metal (stainless steel/steel) fabrication processes within the same facility. Advanced proficiency with specialized production machinery relevant to tank manufacturing (e.g., winding equipment, welding technologies).
