Clerical Specialist, Animal Shelter
Annual Salary Range: $25,999.12 - $31,203.28 Grade: 14 The City of Alexandria is seeking professional individuals to begin a career in the Animal Shelter Department, located in the heart of Central Louisiana to perform a wide variety of clerical duties in support of an assigned function. Duties and Responsibilities
Answers and screens telephone calls; provides information and assistance to callers; forwards calls to appropriate staff; takes messages as necessary. Types, proofreads and processes a variety of documents and forms including general correspondence, reports, orders and memoranda from rough drafts or verbal instructions. Performs computer data entry of data from various sources including applications and forms; inputs corrections and updates; verifies data for accuracy and completeness. Assists the general public and clients; provides information on departmental activities, policies and procedures; distributes applications; provides information on referral services, as appropriate. Performs a variety of record keeping duties including researching files, purging files, and filing documents; maintains logs and statistical records. Distributes or files computer print outs; performs various clerical duties in support of assigned functions. Receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of experience performing routine clerical and reception tasks; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must be able to type and enter data at a speed necessary for successful job performance. May require a valid driver's license. If license is required, must obtain a valid State of Louisiana drivers license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification. Work Schedule
40 hours per week; may work overtime, including holidays and weekends.
