Overview Private Tax is a growing practice within EY, and you’ll see that growth reflected in your career. The team focuses on serving privately held companies and their owners and families. Clients range from family‑owned businesses to private equity owned companies, from start‑ups to multi‑billion‑dollar global private enterprises. You’ll work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and be part of a growing global team, acting as a key point of contact for clients and colleagues. This role offers cross‑border and cross‑functional teaming with support designed to develop your technical tax knowledge, leadership, and business acumen.

Responsibilities

Manage a range of responsibilities, including technical planning and advising for clients that include private entities (C‑Corp, S‑Corp and Partnerships) and high‑profile individuals.

Serve as a trusted advisor and role model for clients and colleagues across multiple teams.

Coach and develop a highly trained team, focusing on quality and commercial value.

Collaborate with partners and teams to develop account strategies and identify and deliver additional services to clients.

Skills And Attributes For Success

Researching tax issues to develop effective tax planning strategies

Open to leading teams on all types of tax work from entity to individual

Translating complex data into client‑ready insights and deliverables

Building long‑term relationships with clients and understanding their needs

Communicating complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients

Maintaining up‑to‑date technical knowledge and sharing best practices

Supervising high‑performing teams and applying leading practices

Identifying risks and opportunities to improve services and processes

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with significant tax, business or financial planning experience and a CPA certification or membership in The Bar

Minimum of 8 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization

Thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning, and experience with federal and state personal and trust income tax

Experience with flow‑through entities (S‑Corps, Partnerships, LLCs) and C‑Corps including income tax provisions and consolidated federal and state tax returns

Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills and the ability to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders

Understanding of automated tax processing systems and relevant laws

Experience managing budgets and projects

Willingness to travel as needed and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

Proven record in tax planning for owners and their families

Proven track record in a professional services environment

Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues

Executive presence and business development skills

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Ability to adapt work style to collaborate with internal and client teams
