Join EY’s Tax - Business Tax Services team as a Senior Manager in Private Tax. This role focuses on serving privately held companies and high‑growth private enterprises, providing advanced tax planning and compliance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical tax planning and advising for private entities (C‑Corp, S‑Corp, Partnerships) and high‑profile individuals.
Act as trusted advisor and role model to clients and internal teams.
Coach, develop, and lead a high‑performing team, ensuring quality and commercial value.
Collaborate with partners and colleagues to develop account strategies and identify additional services.
Skills & Attributes for Success
Research and solve complex tax issues to develop effective planning strategies.
Lead teams across all tax work, from entity to individual.
Translate complex data into client‑ready insights and deliverables.
Build and maintain long‑term client relationships, tailoring services to unique needs.
Communicate complex tax matters to non‑tax professionals and clients.
Continuously update and share technical knowledge and best practices.
Supervise high‑performing teams and share knowledge of leading practices.
Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with substantial tax, business, or financial planning experience.
CPA certification or membership in the Bar.
Minimum 8 years in professional services or a professional tax organization.
Proficiency in estate and wealth planning, federal & state personal & trust income tax.
Experience with flow‑through entities (S‑Corps, Partnerships, LLCs) and C‑Corporations.
Excellent collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder challenge skills.
Understanding of automated tax processing systems and relevant laws.
Budget and project management experience.
Willingness to travel and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
Ideal (Preferred) Qualifications
Proven record in tax planning for owners and families.
Proven record in a professional services environment.
Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
Executive presence and business development skills.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Adaptability in working with internal and client teams.
