Our exemplary customer service, our principle-centered business philosophy and our team-based operating approach are key to our success and growth.**We Are Looking to Add a Key Member to Our Finance Team!**The Sales Tax Leader is responsible for the Sales Tax Team compliance operations, with emphasis on quality control and risk mitigation. The Sales Tax Leader is also responsible for personnel development and for design, development and execution of strategic compliance initiatives and processes.
This role requires a person that is self-directed with strong communication, analytical skills, collaboration, influential leadership, and problem-solving skills.
The Sales Tax Leader will make decisions to ensure we meet targets for service, productivity, and team member engagement.**As a Sales Tax Leader, you will:*** Function as key point of contact for business operations; understand priorities of various corporate, business unit, and functional leadership groups* Lead resolution of lessee, customer, and tax jurisdiction compliance questions and issues* Drive compliance tool and system development and modification, including Vertex Returns, Excel Power Queries and Power Pivots to ensure the team is performing optimally* Champion improvements within the function, including but not limited to sponsoring and leading strategic sales tax initiatives related to development and modification of new and existing programs and compliance related software as well as policy/procedure changes* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of sales and use tax processes; continually review and enhance quality control processes, identify risks, and drive resolution* Ensure accuracy and effectiveness of third-party portfolio servicing for sales/use tax compliance* Oversee account reconciliation process including resolution of discrepancies and identification of potential process improvements and/or efficiencies* Identify, analyze, and resolve complex sales tax compliance issues including implementation of legislative/statutory changes* Provide formal coaching and feedback to team members; identify and communicate challenging work that will provide development opportunities; encourage creativity and recognize individual performance* Track, review, and report team performance metrics to internal leadership* Monitor team resource needs; effectively summarize and communicate updates to resource needs to internal leadership* Provide outstanding GreatAmerica Experience for external as well as internal customers**To be successful in this role you will need:****Attributes*** Proactive problem-solving attitude, with focus on improving processes through a disciplined approach* Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)* Strong business acumen.
Ability to understand underlying business issues related to taxes* Demonstrated self-starter who is goal oriented, and a creative, critical thinker* Ability to multi-task, with a combination of analytical and organizational skills* Effectively display solid leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority* Strong sense of urgency and follow through in addressing issues* Proven interpersonal and relationship building skills* Demonstrated ability to apply business judgement while appropriately balancing competing business interests
**Education*** Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance* Equivalent experience will be considered**Experience*** Ideal candidate will have seven years or more of directly related sales and use tax experience* Candidates with a combination of tax technical background and proven leadership ability will be considered* Prior leasing industry experience preferred**Computer Skills*** Experience with Microsoft Office products primarily Word and Excel* Significant experience with sales tax software strongly preferredSharing rewards is an integral part of our culture.
