Position Summary: The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors. The Senior Leadership Team of Camp Shamineau reports directly to the Executive Director. The Executive Director shall have the responsibility for the implementation and evaluation of the ministries within the guidelines established by the Board of Directors. He/she will provide leadership in the following areas: spiritual, strategy/vision, operations, fundraising, and programming. All functions and activities will be performed within the stated mission, vision, and core values of Camp Shamineau.
General Responsibilities
Implement and uphold all Camp Shamineau policies
Work with the Board to prepare a long-range, strategic plan for Camp Shamineau
Report regularly to the Board about progress toward organizational objectives, financial status of the organization and other issues of concern to the Board
Initiate and direct the development of policies for Board approval
Job Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership
Be a devoted Follower of Jesus, committed to personal spiritual health and accountability
Whole heartedly support EFCA Statement of Faith and Camp Shamineau
Provide spiritual leadership for Camp Shamineau staff, volunteers, and campers that is aligned with the EFCA Statement of Faith
Regularly attend an EFCA church or similar Protestant denomination
Strategic/Vision Leadership
Work with Sr. Leadership Team and Board to develop a rolling three-year strategic plan
Coach and mentor staff to develop a healthy organizational culture
Be aware of and evaluate national camp trends and youth culture as it relates to Camp Shamineau
Participate in Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA), networks, etc. to build and maintain positive relationships
Operations Leadership
Develop and implement an annual operations budget and quarterly report to the Board of Directors
Determine an annual plan and strategies to recruit, hire, train, and compensate staff in order to build a strong team
Provide oversight for all financial and operational activities
Provide the highest level of customer service and risk management (particularly with care of minors)
Develop and consistently implement camp policies and procedures to ensure safety and compliance
Ensure property and facilities are effectively equipped and maintained
Fund Raising Leadership
Create an annual and rolling three-year capital expenditure budget and supportive fund-raising plan
Serve as a key spokesperson to churches, community, campers, and key stakeholders to maximize Camp Shamineau's exposure
Responsible for ensuring sufficient funds are raised for operational and capital projects
Support the preparation of grants, endowments, and other sources of income
Program Leadership
Ensure all programming is aligned with Camp Shamineau's spiritual values, beliefs and mission
Hire, train, develop and evaluate camp leadership
Work closely with each program manager to create and update their ministry/program plan and ensure high quality implementation of those programs
Qualifications – Must Have
Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Fully supports the EFCA Statement of Faith and Camp Shamineau policies
Minimum of 10 years of ministry, organizational leadership, and/or camp leadership experience
Possesses strong organizational, financial, and management skills to build a healthy team culture
Supports the growth and development of others with a history of creating a supportive and healthy work environment
Successfully led or demonstrated competency in leading a highly effective team of 10+ members
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong work ethic and passion for Christian camping
Highest ethical standards, including honesty, integrity, dedication, and leadership
Demonstrates respectful and inspirational leadership
Qualifications – Desired
MS in Organizational Leadership or Business Administration
Has successfully led and developed both the business and ministry functions of a comparably sized mission-focused organization or related experience with a commensurate-sized budget and staff
