About The Role We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pontoon Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the safe operation of our marine assets based in Talbot Bay from a day-to-day perspective, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional experiences for our guests.
This is a seasonal role from the end of February to early November 2026. You will work ‘swings’ at our pontoon complex based in Talbot Bay with days off spent in Broome.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all vessels are maintained in compliance with AMSA Marine Orders and the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV)
Oversee the production and provide support on daily tour plans where required to enhance the guest experience while optimising the use of vessels and crew
Provide training, leadership and guidance to pontoon team members, fostering a high performing and motivated team focused on delivering exceptional guest experience and consistent service
Manage effective rostering and tracking of team members hours, incorporating fatigue management processes while aligning with the business budget
Conduct regular toolbox talks with the team to share relevant information and facilitate communication
Utilise and implement Helm, maintenance management system for marine assets, maintaining accurate records including logs and reports
Promote a strong safety culture on the pontoon, ensuring all incidents and hazards are reported and investigated promptly
Ensure compliance with AMSA, DBCA and other regulatory bodies across pontoon operations
About You With a true passion for exceptional experiences, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated supervisory experience in the marine tourism or hospitality industry along with sound knowledge of AMSA regulations for Domestic Commercial Vessels. We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise and maintain a steady and calm working style during times of pressure along with being able to manage a range of tours, activities, staff and job roles simultaneously. You will have immaculate personal presentation, professionalism and a solution focused ‘can-do’ attitude.
To be considered for this role you will have:
A current AMSA issued Master
A current AMSA issued Marine Engine Driver 2 (highly desirable)
A current First Aid and CPR certificate (remote first aid is desirable)
Fire training including a valid COST/STCW or advanced firefighting are considered highly desirable.
All candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as part of the onboarding stage.
