Job Description Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by taking a lead role in coordinating and overseeing the recruitment of international students and students living abroad through the development of enrollment initiatives.
Essential Functions
Recruits, interviews, and reviews prospective students for admission and scholarship.
Includes degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking applicants and international students as well as U.S. citizens living abroad.
Application management to include gathering information for incomplete files, preparing completed applications, making decisions on student applicants, and cultivating applicants from a specific geographic location.
Ensures that all visiting students and families have a pleasant and informative visit to campus by supporting the success of various student-visit programs through conducting information sessions, campus tours, one-on-one interviews, virtual webinars and meetings, and collaborating with a wide variety of departments and offices across campus.
Works with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and other senior officers to develop effective communication with international community groups.
Develops and manages recruitment initiatives from inquiry to enrollment for assigned markets.
Assists the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management with identifying new target populations of diverse students.
Meets with the appropriate faculty members to discuss enrollment goals and initiatives for international student populations.
Serves on appropriate departmental and institutional committees.
Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, financial aid application procedures, aid programs, costs, and indebtedness.
Confers regularly with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and members of the university community to plan, coordinate, and participate in activities, exchange information, resolve problems, and promote a campus-wide awareness of enrollment activities-especially those related to international students.
Tracks and reports on national and international trends related to international student populations.
Represents the University at on and off-campus events, including open houses, regional events, academic showcases, and strategic high school visits. May include international travel.
Cooperates in long-term and short-term tasks that further the mission of Norwich University.
Other Functions
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups or other designated bodies as assigned.
Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
Speaks, reads and writes in English.
Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. Progression toward an advanced degree is desirable.
3 years of international admission and recruiting experience.
1 year of experience serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) through the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
An understanding of and sensitivity to multicultural and diversity issues.
Comprehensive knowledge of Admissions operations.
Comprehensive understanding of the goals and objectives of a small, private liberal arts educational institution.
A valid passport is required.
A valid driver's license is required
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook); experience with Banner and Slate preferred
Experience with computerized information systems and operating systems, including Windows. Familiarity with data network processes.
Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 20 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
Schedule will include some evening or weekend hours
Travel as needed (public or private transportation)
Environmental Conditions
Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
