Overview An Assistant Director at Phase Family Center should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have experience working with Early Childhood Educators, and have a love for teachers, children, and families. At Phase Family Center, the Learning Center Director will determine the needs of the school, promise to keep it safe, build community, inspire growth, and bring fun not only to our students and families, but to our staff.
Responsibilities
Daily operation of the Learning Center:
Manage the staff daily schedule including breaks, PTO, and call outs.
Develop and implement a plan for daily ratio monitoring.
Develop and implement a plan for retention and attendance.
Ensure that the property, facility, and equipment are well‑maintained.
Support the Curriculum Coordinator’s responsibility to coach teachers on implementing and adapting the curriculum.
Payroll and scheduling:
Ultimate responsibility for time punches, PTO requests, and schedules in the payroll system.
Generate and implement solutions to issues in classroom management, discipline, etc., with teachers; follow up to evaluate and ensure compliance.
Develop a breadth of knowledge of Pro Care, the Center’s communication platform, and hold teachers accountable for daily reporting requirements.
Contribute to conversations regarding enrollment and class transitions.
Participate in family communication with the Family Engagement Coordinator (daily messaging, newsletters, notices, etc.).
Support the Learning Center Director in regular communication with the Business Manager and Center Support team through personal coaching and assignments in the Phase Portal.
Compliance:
Manage compliance with all state licensing rules and regulations designated by DECAL, Quality Rated and other accreditation agencies.
Participate in daily, weekly, monthly and annual licensing reports, inspections and drills (center‑wide) at the direction of the Director.
Coach teachers on best practices and licensing regulations.
Report any needed supplies/equipment to the Curriculum Coordinator.
Lead teachers in Quality Rated training for annual evaluations.
Staff management:
Support teachers in completing their annual professional learning plans, per Quality Rated guidelines, and participate in annual performance reviews.
Plan and implement monthly staff meetings and as‑needed, center‑wide training.
Coach individual teachers on job performance in conjunction with the Director.
Manage disciplinary actions with staff in conjunction with the Director.
Conduct first‑round interviews and work with the Director on placement and onboarding of all new staff.
Develop and implement a plan for teacher encouragement, including recognition of birthdays and anniversaries.
Manage POD leaders.
Preside on the Preschool Administrative Team:
Participate in weekly individual meetings with the Director to review assigned areas of responsibility.
Meet weekly with the Administrative Team to review immediate needs and calendar as a group.
Attend monthly whole‑team meetings to share progress from individual areas of responsibility.
Work with the Administrative Team to align with Phase Family Learning Center’s mission, vision, ethos, culture and goals.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree or greater in Early Childhood Development or related field.
40‑hour Director Training Credential.
Preferred 3 years experience in this role.
Minimum of 3 years leadership experience.
Minimum of 3 years classroom experience.
Membership and agreement with the Statement of Beliefs of Victory Christian Church.
Strong leadership and administrative skills.
Love for children, teachers and passion for teaching.
No criminal record or child‑related offenses.
