Job Summary The AVP/Team Leader is a strategic leader responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of high‑value Commercial Lines Property & Casualty clients. This role drives business outcomes through proactive market engagement, data‑driven decision‑making, and innovative prospecting and client solutions. You will lead a cross‑functional team of client service members, leverage deep industry knowledge, utilize technology for operational excellence, and serve as a trusted advisor, positioning NFP as a market leader.

This is a full‑time position with a hybrid schedule from our Charlotte, North Carolina office. Remote options may be considered for well‑qualified candidates demonstrating high product fluency and leadership.

Core Responsibilities

Own and strategically grow a book of high‑value Property/Casualty clients, driving retention and expansion through internal collaboration, proactive relationship management, and innovative solutions.

Lead and support producers’ new business growth objectives through comprehensive marketing strategies and submissions, leveraging data analytics and market trends.

Proactively identify and address coverage gaps, recommending enhancements to maximize client protection and business opportunities.

Drive renewal and new business processes by designing efficient workflows, automating data collection, and mentoring team members.

Serve as a market strategist, continuously monitoring carrier appetites and industry trends to formulate innovative solutions.

Build and leverage deep carrier relationships to negotiate optimal terms and create competitive advantage.

Lead cross‑functional teams with empowerment and accountability, delegating strategically to maximize strengths.

Champion data‑driven decision‑making by leveraging technology platforms for actionable insights and streamlined operations.

Act as a trusted advisor, proactively educating prospects and clients on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and strategic coverage options.

Participate in prospect and client proposals and presentations that reflect accurate coverage terms, pricing, and strategic recommendations.

Continuously seek professional development opportunities and represent NFP as a thought leader at industry events.

Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and clients through regular contact and visits, keeping clients apprised of industry trends and regulatory issues.

Review client contracts to ensure compliance with insurance requirements.

Provide support to staff on answering coverage questions and achieving service excellence.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Staff management and leadership experience including performance management, training, budgeting, and operations.

Excellent written communication skills – clear writing, edit for spelling and grammar, and effective presentation of numeric data.

Strong leadership skills and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Attention to detail, follow‑through, and sense of urgency.

Demonstrated leadership, customer service, ethical behavior, sound judgment, and professionalism.

When working from home, maintain a private workspace, high‑speed internet, and be responsive online while minimizing personal interruptions.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree desired. High school diploma or equivalent required with additional training or education.

Typically, more than 10 years of Commercial Lines Insurance experience.

Experience as a Manager, Team Lead/Supervisor, or other leadership role required.

Computer literate with proficiency in Word and Excel.

Agency management system experience required. EPIC experience highly desired.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

P&C Insurance License required upon hire.

Professional insurance designation required (CIC, CISR, CPCU, CRM, AAI, etc.) preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $175,000, determined by experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level, scope and geographic location. Actual base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
