Job Description The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator plays a key role in delivering impactful youth programs across 4-5 assigned Boys & Girls Clubs and supporting outdoor education at Gates Camp during the summer. Reporting to the Healthy Lifestyles Manager, this position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating high-yield and targeted programs for Club members ages 5-18.
The Coordinator leads Healthy Lifestyles programming, including nutrition education, physical activity, outdoor education and field trips, substance use prevention, and healthy relationships. This role involves a mix of in-Club programming, field trips, and administrative work to ensure high-quality experiences for Club members. Additionally, the Coordinator builds and maintains community program partnerships that enhance program offerings and support the health and well‑being of youth in our communities. The Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring program goals are met by effectively allocating budgets for multiple grants.
Qualifications and Experience A combination of degree or directly related coursework and/or work experience equivalent to four years in health, education or nutrition One year of youth development experience.
*Paid/unpaid volunteer and internships may be substituted for experience on a year‑by‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Bilingual (Spanish preferred) Experience working with youth in health or outdoor education. Teaching certificate or background in education with a track record of planning and implementing youth lesson plans Proficient in managing multiple programs, attendance requirements, and reporting. Strong passion for connecting members and families to the highest quality health programming and services driven by evidence‑based practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and database management systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong facilitation and training skills for a variety of audiences. Experience in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail, while adapting to frequent changes or unexpected events. Safety and compliance. Experience as an onsite compliance expert to ensure all employees, volunteers, and other individuals follow safety protocols, policies, and organization procedure. Incident de‑escalation as a point of escalation, feedback, and approval for incidents and submitted incident reports. Budgets. You have assisted in budget development; monitor and report variances in expenditures and meet or exceed all grant requirements and deadlines for grants. Recruiting. You have created creative and effective recruitment strategies, planning and implementation to bring in new youth to programs.
Conditions of Employment Candidates must be able to pass a criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks. A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy is also a pre‑requisite. Maintain active CPR & First Aid certification. The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator will primarily work outdoors during the summer months at Gates Camp and while facilitating field trips. During other times of the year , the Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator will primarily work indoors. Accordingly, the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing up to 25lbs. Strong English proficiency is required for this position to ensure effective communications with staff, Club members, and families, as well as to follow safety and procedural guidelines accurately.
