Position Summary
The HR Employee Relations Assistant provides administrative and operational support for Human Resources functions, with a primary focus on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and HR systems. This role assists with complaint intake, investigation support, corrective action tracking, and documentation. The Employee Relations Assistant ensures HR processes are followed consistently and maintains accurate, confidential records.
Growth Opportunity This position is designed as an entry point into Employee Relations within a hospital and unionized environment. The Assistant will gain hands‑on experience in complaint intake, documentation standards, corrective action processes, and investigation support. As skills develop, the role may take on more complex tasks, including low‑level concern management, preliminary fact‑finding, and basic policy and contract interpretation.
Essential Duties
Assist with complaint intake, investigation scheduling, and documentation.
Support Employee Relations investigations by gathering records, preparing files, and organizing materials.
Track corrective actions, grievances, timelines, and follow‑up requirements.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations documentation.
Provide administrative support for performance management processes.
Assist employees and managers with basic HR process and policy inquiries.
Support HR projects, audits, and system updates related to employee relations and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Two (2) years of advanced‑level administrative experience
OR
One (1) year of Human Resources experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
HR certifications (required within 12 months of hire):
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
PHR or SPHR
aPHR (acceptable for early‑career entry; progression to PHR/SHRM-CP expected)
