AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support the critical power and water infrastructure needed to build and operate new AWS data centers to ensure customers have continual, scalable access to innovation tools. We work on challenging problems, with thousands of supply chain variables, and we’re looking for talented people who can speak on the benefits of data centers in communities where we develop.
Key job responsibilities
Single threaded owner for community engagement on Amazon’s water and energy usage and communicate the community benefits of datacenter development
Lead cross‑functional collaboration with Real Estate, Public Policy, Economic Development, Power, Water, Land Development, External Affairs and Communications teams to develop integrated new region entry plans incorporating best practices and lessons learned
Develop and implement comprehensive community engagement strategies for new AWS data center regions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and community needs
Plan and execute community open houses and educational events
Develop educational materials to address common misconceptions about data center operations, power and water use
Explain technical infrastructure investments in accessible terms and highlight economic benefits and job creation opportunities
Serve as primary liaison with key external stakeholders, including city council members, mayors, and county commissioners
Collaborate with internal partner teams to develop and deliver clear, accurate communications and talking points addressing community concerns about data center development as it relates to construction of water or power infrastructure and/or rate structures
Build and maintain strong relationships with local government officials, utilities, and community leaders
Monitor and report on program effectiveness; make adjustments as needed to improve outcomes

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
8+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, or corporate social responsibility experience
7+ years of managing stakeholders in cross‑functional project experience
3+ years of working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies experience
Preferred Qualifications >\ Master's degree or above in management, business administration, economics, engineering, marketing
Experience in public policy and government relations
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
Experience building cross‑functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization without a direct reporting relationship
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience in data centers, infrastructure service providers, or related technology companies
