ESTIMATOR/PROJECT MANAGER
A San Diego based construction Company with operations throughout Southern California is currently seeking a full-time, experienced ESTIMATOR/WITH A FOCUS ON CIVIL & GRADING to support our Lakeside, California Operations.
JOB DUTIES The duties for this position will include and not limited to the following.
Prepare cost estimates for projects in their category or categories, including the following
Determine labor and equipment costs.
Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
Send requests for quotes to vendors and subcontractors.
Review and understand bid documents and assess project risks.
Understand project logistics and project schedules.
Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
Review quotes and estimates with the estimating and project management team.
Prepare estimates at different levels of completion
Perform pre-construction duties and meetings with Client, Owners, Subcontractors, and Engineers when necessary.
Manage ongoing work which is awarded as a result of estimates prepared by that individual
Being responsible for project documentation (submittals, RFIs, notices), ongoing client business deliverables (schedules, billing, notices), and official client communication.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned .
This position is in the Estimator role in the Estimating department, and promotion or advancement opportunities exist for individuals interested in advancing to a more responsible position over time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must possess the following special skills and or requirements to be considered for this position.
Demonstrated understanding of technical methodology for the preparation of cost estimates for construction (either by recent experience in applicable job or through skills test).
Heavy Civil and Site development, Grading, Paving, Concrete Structural and Non-Structural
Storm Drain and Drainage features
Fencing and Masonry.
Knowledge of Agtek Earthworks 4D software program.
Knowledge of on-screen take-off software i.e. Blue Beam or Plan Swift
HeavyBid experience a plus.
Proficient with Primavera P-6 Scheduling
Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Standard English
Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner
Maintains confidentiality at all times
Great communication skills both written and verbal
Contributes to building a positive work environment
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
4 Year degree from an accredited college or university & 4 Years Work Experience OR 8 Years Work Experience in a directly related role in this or a similar industry required
Degree in Business Management, Project Management, Communications, English, Humanities, Construction Engineering or Management, or Allied Fields preferred
Experience working with public utilities in Southern California, especially SDG&E, SCE, SCG, SWG, IID, LADWP, City of Riverside, or City of Long Beach preferred
Experience with Heavy Construction Software Suite – HeavyBid preferred
Experience with Heavy Construction Software Suite HeavyJob and Safety preferred
Experience with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 preferred
Experience with Sage 300/Timberline &/or Sage Paperless preferred
Experience with Agtek or Autodesk preferred
