Outside Machinist 4
Vigor Marine CM San Diego is currently seeking an Outside Machinist 4 to help support our operations. The Outside Machinist 4 is responsible for the overhaul, alignment, and adjustment of machinery equipment in place onboard ship; cut, shape, and drill various materials; assemble and disassemble mechanical parts according to technical manuals; clean and preserve parts; perform related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. Minimum requirements include: Working knowledge of ship layout Trained in machine shop equipment, alignment process, and blueprint reading Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces Must be able to access and move around ship safely Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in required The ability to obtain a DBIDS credential is required Physical and work environment requirements include: Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Frequently moves throughout the shipyard Works at heights and in confined spaces Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders/ramps, aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 50 pounds May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams Our commitment: The Vigor Marine CM San Diego Management Team is committed to providing the necessary structure, tools, and environment for our employees.
