Outside Machinist - Career Opportunity - San Diego, CA
We are seeking a skilled Outside Machinist capable of performing installation, maintenance, and repair of ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems. Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair propulsion and auxiliary systems on ships. Repair, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on boilers, pumps, and valves. Work on board ships on auxiliary equipment, pumps, valves, and boiler systems. Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment. Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related equipment. Test marine engines and equipment to determine the need for repairs or adjustments. Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment and valves. Operate hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair. Assist in the fabrication of equipment. Essential Skills: Experience in the shipyard or Navy as an Outside Machinist or Machinist Mate. Over 5 years of experience as an Outside Machinist (Journeyman Level) is ideal, but 2+ years will be considered. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in ship repair, diesel engines, and valve repair. Experience with blueprint reading and machining. Familiarity with hydraulics and marine mechanics.
