Chef de Cuisine / Kitchen Manager
Common Bond Cafe – Medical Center, 2278 W Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030
Full‑time position with annual salary of $52,000.00–55,000.00. Requires a high school degree.
Ideal candidates possess a passion for culinary arts, strong leadership, excellent communication, and a commitment to uphold the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation for our guests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
Makes recommendations to the Corporate Executive Chef regarding succession planning.
Ensures guests receive an exceptional dining experience.
Manages food stock levels to meet Common Bond standards.
Maintains team presentation and cleanliness.
Supervises safe use, cleaning, and maintenance of all food preparation equipment.
Prepares and maintains culinary operations manuals.
Controls adherence to operational budgets, food costs, and COGs.
Plans, conducts, and follows up on maintenance reports and work orders.
Manages and motivates team members, providing timely feedback and counsel.
Animates a positive, motivated workplace culture.
Collaborates with the Executive Corporate Chef to use the highest quality ingredients.
Maintains weekly work schedules and updates timecards.
Acts as manager on duty for the restaurant when scheduled.
Identifies strengths and weaknesses in team performance and provides feedback.
Available for varied tasks within the store during each shift.
Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar capacity.
Experience managing in a diverse environment with a focus on quality and customer service.
Excellent communication skills with managers, kitchen staff, service team, and guests.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work a standing position for long periods.
Willingness to work up to 50 hours per week.
Serve‑Safe or Houston Food Manager’s Certificate required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of food and beverage industry.
Creativity, culinary aptitude, and passion for working with food.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to take action.
Administrative and computer proficiency.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Capability to work as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain relationships.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
