Fire Technician III Total Safety

is looking for a

Fire Technician III

to join its safety conscious team. The primary responsibility is service inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment, including but not limited to portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, fire and gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, navigational aids, gaseous suppression systems, and water-based fire protection systems.

Essential Duties

Perform shop service and/or field inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment, including portable and fixed fire extinguisher systems and components, lifesaving and navigation aid equipment, fire detection and alarm system components, fixed gas detection systems, foam, dry chemical and gaseous fire suppression systems and components.

Handle troubleshooting and repair of more complex equipment and issues.

Complete all documentation associated with inspection and repair in a timely and accurate manner, obtaining customer signature to enable proper invoicing.

Conduct detailed visual inspections and system functional tests of various systems and equipment, reporting any deficiencies and recommending corrective actions to customers.

Conduct pre‑job, job update, and post‑job completion briefs.

Train customers and less experienced technicians.

Assist in facility operations such as stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready‑to‑use equipment and pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.

Maintain work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Perform basic maintenance and care of the assigned vehicle and/or trailer.

Operate electronic safety and communications systems, including portable gas monitors, hand‑held radios, and other related equipment.

Rig up and use a wide range of safety equipment, including retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards.

Be trained, authorized, and certified to work both onshore and offshore exploration and production.

Skills and Experience

Knowledge of all regulatory standards pertaining to the role, including State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations.

Knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Coast Guard and ABS regulations if offshore.

Proficiency in the care and use of all site‑specific, facility, and customer‑required personal protective equipment (PPE). Trained in respiratory protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (fit tested).

Valid driver’s license from state of residence and proof of vehicle insurance; safe driving record and insurability for company vehicle insurance while driving a company truck.

Forklift experience is a plus; must pass internal forklift certification as required.

Willingness to travel to customer sites and available for short‑ and long‑term out‑of‑town and/or offshore projects.

Ability to obtain a TWIC card and pass any required safety testing, including Basic Plus, OSHA 10‑hour, etc.

State Fire Licenses (if required by state) or passage of NICET Level II testing in three disciplines of fire protection, or NICET Level III in two disciplines, for the appropriate areas of service prior to performing work within those areas.

Working Environment Work is conducted in shop, indoor and outdoor industrial environments. Exposure to cold, hot, wet, humid, and outdoor weather conditions and vibration is frequent. Employees work in customer environments and may be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic. The noise level is usually moderate.

Educational Requirements High school diploma or GED and at least three (3) years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery, or a related industry. An associate degree in science or a technical area is strongly preferred.
