Customs Trade Specialist – FedEx Logistics
We are looking for a Customs Trade Specialist to coordinate documentation required by U.S. Customs and Government Agencies for the entry of goods into the United States on behalf of importers.
Responsibilities
Provide impeccable customer service and coordinate required documentation for U.S. Customs.
Process commodities identified for specialized processing to reduce risk of penalties through proper classification and duty preference.
Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release using databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet resources, and customs guidance.
Process and enter various import‑related documentation for submission to U.S. Customs, handling all Participating Government Agencies (PGA’s).
Maintain current shipment documentation in compliance with record‑keeping requirements.
Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations.
Collaborate with internal staff, departments, FedEx operation companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high‑level service.
Process agency brokerage shipments and handle remote filings.
Perform entry reconciliations, entry reviews, and resolve customs issues.
Ensure all government and organizational policies are followed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 6 months of work experience required; 12 months of industry experience preferred.
Data entry/keyboard experience required.
Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and use of multiple screens and windows.
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to handle high volume, time‑sensitive work and work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience using multiple systems and reference materials.
Knowledge of customs regulations and Harmonized Tariff Schedule preferred.
Preferred Qualifications Shift : Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Location : Hybrid role based in Tonawanda, NY
Pay $16.50 / hour
