Overview Position Title:
Workers’ Compensation Claim Adjuster (NJ focus)
Location:
Hybrid (Reporting to Linwood, NJ)
Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
Salary Range:
$65,000 – $70,000

Responsibilities
Investigate, evaluate and adjust claims in accordance with established claim handling standards and laws.
Establish reserves or provide reserve recommendations within established reserve authority levels.
Review, approve or provide oversight of medical, legal, damage estimates and miscellaneous invoices, negotiate disputed bills.
Authorize and process claims payments in accordance with claim procedures and payment authority.
Negotiate settlements within Corporate Claim Standards, client specific handling instructions, and state laws.
Assist in the selection, referral and supervision of claim files sent to outside vendors.
Assess and monitor subrogation claims for resolution.
Maintain personal diary on claim system.
Client satisfaction.
Prepare reports on claim status, payments, reserves.
Compute disability rates per state laws.
Coordinate communication with clients, claimants, and appropriate parties.
Prepare newsletter articles as requested.
Provide notices of qualifying claims to excess/reinsurance carriers.
Handle more complex claims with minimum supervision.
Conduct claim reviews and training sessions for clients.
Attend and participate at hearings, mediations, informal legal conferences.
Comply with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and client instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Five or more years of claims experience (required).
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Adjuster’s license may be required based on jurisdiction.
Physical Demands
Ability to stoop, bend, reach, grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
Ability to sit or stand up to 7.5 or more hours at a time.
Requires sufficient auditory and visual acuity to interact with others.
