Overview
First United Methodist Church of Hurst is growing, and we’re ready to welcome a full-time Children’s Ministry Director to help us scale a vibrant, welcoming ministry for children and families (birth–5th grade). We’re a warm, Wesleyan, and deeply inclusive congregation in Hurst, Texas, seeking a leader who is joyfully United Methodist—grounded in grace, guided by Scripture and tradition, and eager to form kids as everyday followers of Jesus. Our next director will be a builder and equipper: recruiting and discipling volunteer teams, partnering with parents, and shaping simple systems that can grow with us. You’ll supervise our Nursery Coordinator and our part-time Children’s Ministry Coordinator, steward the ministry budget, collaborate in weekly worship planning (including acolytes), and shape learning rhythms, seasonal milestones, and big moments like VBS. We value holy listening and child-spirituality practices inspired by Dr. Leanne Hadley, and we’re committed to a safe, trauma-aware environment for every child through MinistrySafe. We’re offering $46,000–$50,000 plus health insurance, retirement benefits, PTO, and professional development. Responsibilities
Recruit and disciple volunteer teams; partner with parents; shape simple systems that can grow with the church. Supervise the Nursery Coordinator and the part-time Children’s Ministry Coordinator. Qualifications and Expectations
Experience leading children’s ministry or a related role in a church setting. Ability to equip volunteers and lead multi-generational ministry efforts. Familiarity with United Methodist theology and polity preferred. Commitment to a safe, trauma-aware environment for children and families.
Compensation and Benefits
$46,000–$50,000 plus health insurance, retirement benefits, PTO, and professional development.
