ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cooperate with Program Director in planning and implementing the camp program.
Organize and administer a safe and meaningful program in the area of arts and crafts that is in harmony with the goals and objectives of Camp Del Oro.
Develop innovative approaches to crafts that will encourage campers to experiment and explore their own creativity.
Ensure each camper completes at least one craft project that will be taken home as a reminder of their camp experience.
Maintain order and cleanliness in the craft house.
Train and assist counselors to be familiar with rules, programs and crafts available to campers.
Design program crafts reflecting nature.
Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials to ensure a good program is conducted for all camp sessions.
Report supply needs and provide a materials list to the program director for purchase.
Coordinate all craft activities with other camp programs.
Assist the assistant program director with implementing the campfire program.
Provide support to total camp programs.
Assist with break day duties as assigned.
Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
Assist with clean up of total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
Assist with the camp brief at the end of the summer.
Assist the Program Director in completing inventories at summer's end.
Assist the Program Director with other duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have general skills in working with children.
Preferred previous camp experience either as a camper or as a staff member.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and tools.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. A qualified person with a disability may request a modification or adjustment to the job or work environment in order to meet the physical requirements of the position. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed would not result in undue hardship.
