Zurich is looking for an RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I to work out of Michigan state. This incumbent will work from a home‑based office. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Approximately 50% travel is expected to cover the territory.
The ideal candidate will need to live and service within a 50-to-100‑mile radius of the following counties in Michigan: Clinton, Gratiot, Ionia, and/or Isabella.
Zurich is currently looking for a RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. RCIS provides insurance and superior services through leading agents to protect America’s farmers and ranchers. It’s been an innovator in crop insurance since the crop insurance business was privatized by the federal government in 1980. Today it’s one of the nation’s largest crop insurance providers, offering risk management protection in all 50 states through a national network of about 4,000 professionally trained and licensed agents.
Responsibilities
With minimal supervision, complete field inspections and related responsibilities such as reading maps and aerial photos, measuring fields, storage bins, and discussing findings of crop loss with farmers on the most complex non‑routine, problematic claims including controversial claims.
Convey complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry people on claim situations.
Perform fact finding regarding crop damage, record information and transmit loss information to accurately determine potential indemnities.
Gather relevant facts, utilizing applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence.
Complete claim reviews and audits on lower‑level adjusters as assigned.
Ensure legal compliance by maintaining a strong working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures.
Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent and at least 6 months of experience in the agricultural area.
Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) obtained within 180 days of hire.
Reliable personal transportation and ability to travel within the territory.
Valid Driver’s License.
RCIS Crop Adjuster Physical Requirements: walk up to 3 miles in agricultural fields, climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25–50 lbs., work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organization and prioritization skills.
Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Compensation Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. The salary range for this position is $22.02–$30.24, with a short‑term incentive bonus of 5%.
