Light Labs is building the modern platform for lab testing, starting with consumer goods brands. We help companies test more cheaply, quickly, and enable them to use lab results to automate regulatory compliance and grow revenue. We believe consumers deserve to know the purity and accuracy of every product that affects their families’ health. Improving our food system starts with increasing transparency and creating a more informed customer.

Role Overview As the first Account Executive at Light Labs, you’ll help leading brands and manufacturers manage, improve, and showcase their quality to bring more transparency to the food system. You’ll work directly with the founders to build the sales motion, refine the pitch, and close new deals. We’ve grown from zero to a multi‑million‑dollar run rate in under a year, and you’ll play a key role in taking that growth to the next level.

Responsibilities

Build and scale the sales motion.

Develop the end‑to‑end playbook for how we identify, qualify, pitch, and close CPG brands and manufacturers.

Partner with founders to refine messaging, pricing, and GTM strategy based on customer feedback and performance data.

Own full sales cycles.

Manage everything from first touch through close, including discovery, demos, pricing, and negotiation.

Generate and manage pipeline.

Balance inbound interest with outbound prospecting, ensuring every qualified opportunity is followed through.

Develop strong customer relationships.

Build trust with founders, quality leaders, and operations teams to deeply understand their pain points and decision processes.

Create new commercial opportunities.

Identify patterns in customer needs, design solutions that address them, and package offerings in ways that accelerate adoption.

Represent Light Labs in the field.

Join customer calls, visit client sites, strengthen relationships, and uncover new business.

Translate feedback into action.

Capture insights from the market and feed them back into product, marketing, and operations to help shape company direction.

Scale impact.

Help drive Light Labs’ growth from $3 M to $12 M+ run rate in one year by consistently closing high‑quality new business.

Lay the foundation for future growth.

Document what works, refine processes, and mentor future sales hires as we expand the team.

Requirements

2+ years of quota‑carrying experience in a fast‑paced environment, ideally in an early‑stage startup.

Demonstrated success closing deals and managing complex, multi‑stakeholder sales processes.

Strong prospecting skills. Comfortable with high‑volume outreach through calls, sequences, and creative channels to generate qualified pipeline.

Excellent communicator. Skilled in discovery, storytelling, and objection handling, with a clear, persuasive writing style.

Strategic thinker. Able to understand the broader business context behind customer needs and position solutions accordingly.

Entrepreneurial mindset. Operates independently, thrives in ambiguity, and builds structure where none exists.

Fast learner. Quickly absorbs technical and scientific concepts and translates them into business value.

Mission‑aligned. Motivated by improving transparency and integrity in the food system.

Austin, TX (in‑office 5 days per week). This role sits side‑by‑side with the founders and broader team to build the foundation of Light Labs’ GTM engine.
