The Commercial Area Manager (CAM) is a revenue generating sales position responsible for the direct sales of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, SUV, Mini‑vans, and especially Ram Trucks and Vans to dealers, large commercial fleet and small business customers. The CAM develops new business with prospective accounts while maximizing sales and revenue with existing commercial customers.
The CAM must bring a “sales first” mindset to every interaction and develop sales strategies to support the established targets in his/her region. Responsibilities include developing strategies to conquer new accounts, implementing and maintaining consistent prospecting methods, and maintaining and building volume with existing commercial customers. In addition, the CAM develops strategies to overcome customer objections, provides solutions, supports order‑to‑delivery, supports cost‑control reduction (TCO) initiatives, and provides accurate and timely updates on Stellantis programs such as VIP, incentives, Service Net, etc.
When working with dealers, the CAM obtains dealership advertising and marketing commitments, demonstrates commercial sales opportunities and revenue streams, and serves as liaison to support dealers and commercial businesses. The CAM trains and supports the dealership’s commercial account department so they can support small, medium, and larger fleet customers, and manages dealership inventory, working with the Area Sales Manager and Ram Area Manager to ensure availability of the right commercial products to the right local users.
The CAM proposes accurate and fiscally responsible Volume Incentive Program proposals, develops effective local events to promote product awareness and sales, provides accurate monthly forecasts of production requirements, supports commercial initiatives, promotes fiscal responsibility, holds quarterly meetings within the region, and audits financial reports.
The position requires strong working relationships with fleet management representatives, second‑stage manufacturers, up‑fitters, and dealerships supporting local commercial events and organizations, provides input on product content and process changes, and manages multiple priorities with aggressive timelines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of business‑to‑business sales experience
Must reside or be willing to relocate to North Carolina or South Carolina
Experience working in automotive or fleet environment
New business development experience
Excel in building positive working relationships
Self‑motivated with demonstrated ability to achieve goals under minimal supervision
Willing and able to travel up to 60‑80% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge or experience with dealership commercial sales processes
OEM field sales experience related to commercial market segment and products
MBA
Automotive background in a fleet management environment
Commercial vehicle product knowledge
Experience/relationship/understanding of Bailment Pool and/or commercial equipment Upfitters
Strong negotiating skills
