Job Description:
The City of Walterboro is seeking a strategic, detail‑oriented, and experienced financial leader. The director oversees the city’s financial operations, ensuring fiscal integrity, transparency, and sustainability. Responsibilities include accounting, financial planning, procurement, and investment of funds for the City of Walterboro.
Manage cash flow, grant administration, audit preparation, utility billing, and business license revenue collections.
Oversee accounts payable, human resources, and municipal court functions.
Prepare and coordinate the city’s annual budget with the city manager.
Conduct internal audits, ensure proper financial controls, and serve as liaison to certified public accountants, external auditors, agencies, and financial institutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field. At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal accounting or finance, including 3 years in a supervisory role. Experience in governmental accounting and financial reporting is required. CGFO or CPFO certification is preferred.
