The Virginia Capacity Building Project supports Serve Virginia and their partners in alleviating the effects of poverty through organizational capacity building. While our project covers a wide range of issue areas, from substance use disorder to educational opportunities, all of our members are dedicated to increasing the impact and reach of volunteerism and to pursuing healthy futures for all Virginians. The efforts of our AmeriCorps members will help us build towards a healthier, happier, and stronger Commonwealth.
Member Duties Serve your community and develop your professional skills through a year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA! In this hybrid position, the International Rescue Committee Community Engagement & Development VISTA will build capacity by building strong community support and sustainable donation systems. The Member will do so by coordinating vehicle donation and contribution‑in‑kind programs, engaging past and potential donors, promoting volunteer management best practices, and conducting community outreach. The right fit for this position will be self‑driven and highly motivated individuals with a passion for serving their communities through community engagement and capacity building efforts. Applicants should be able to communicate effectively and diplomatically and be comfortable in a multi‑cultural environment. Experience with conducting research and writing is preferred. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
