Benefits Specialist – Community Resources
Professional Services Group (PSG) is seeking a Benefits Specialist to support individuals in accessing essential public benefits and community resources. This role is ideal for someone who cares deeply about advocacy, enjoys problem‑solving, and wants to make a meaningful difference for older adults and individuals with disabilities or mental health challenges.
Position Overview You will work directly with individuals referred through the Division of Aging, Disability, and Behavioral Health Services (DADBHS). You will guide them through benefit eligibility, application steps, and the appeals process while ensuring they understand their rights and available options.
What You’ll Do
Educate consumers on public benefit programs
Assist them with completing applications
Conduct eligibility evaluations
Help prepare or present information for administrative appeals under the direction of an attorney
Engage in community outreach and public education
Collaborate with legal advisors, county partners, and community organizations
Maintain accurate documentation, ethical conduct, and confidentiality
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree (preferably in human services) or RN license
At least one year of experience supporting aging adults or individuals with disabilities (internship or volunteer experience may count)
Strong communication, organization, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
Familiarity with public benefits programs a plus
Comfort using Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
