Nautilus Civil Engineers, Inc. (NCE) is seeking qualified candidates to join our Civil & Environmental Engineering team in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. This position is ideal for emerging civil engineers with 0-5 years of experience who are motivated and eager to learn. The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of project types, including categories such as geometric site and roadway design, utility systems design and engineering, traffic and transportation engineering, grading and drainage design, stormwater hydraulics and hydrology engineering, etc. This is a full-time, salaried position. Salary and benefits will be offered based on experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Civil Engineer with NCE you will work directly with other engineers, contractors, architects, environmental scientists, and governmental agency personnel both in the office and in the field to complete a wide variety of civil infrastructure, residential subdivisions, and commercial site development projects. Some of the anticipated duties will include:
Due Diligence and Conceptual Engineering Design
Perform detailed 2D and 3D Civil Engineering designs utilizing the latest in BIM for Civil Engineering design software.
Prepare Construction Drawings including Site Plans, Grading and Drainage Plans, Utility Plans, Demolition Plans, Erosion Control Plans, Roadway and Utility Profiles, Cross Sections, and Construction Details.
Prepare stormwater hydraulics and hydrologic analyses and reports
Prepare minor Traffic Engineering analyses and reports
Prepare permitting packages for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
Coordinate with Owners and Contractors during the Bidding and Construction project phases
Provide field inspections and post-construction certifications for civil infrastructure and stormwater projects
Coordinate with external development project team members such as Architects, Surveyors, Geotechnical Engineers, Structural Engineers, etc.
Requirements:
S. or M.S. in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
Passed the FE Examination and received EI / EIT Certification
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel
Ability to speak and write professionally
Good interpersonal communication skills, commitment to deadlines, and positive team attitude
Willingness to learn and adapt to the fast-paced land development industry
US Citizen or Legal Resident (foreign sponsorship not desired at this time)
Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license
Other Beneficial Qualifications:
The following skills and attributes are not required but will be considered a significant benefit for candidates:
Experience in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with Autodesk Vehicle Tracking or Transoft AutoTURN
Experience with Bentley SITEOPS
Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic design software such as ICPR, Hydraflow Extensions for Civil 3D, and/or Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA)
Advanced level of experience in computer software techniques applicable to the civil engineering profession, such as iterative calculations in Microsoft Excel or custom applications in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with GIS software
Prior experience with the Florida regulatory processes (Development Orders, FDEP regulations and permits, FDOT permits, etc.)
Prior experience in construction, contracting, and/or land surveying
Professional Engineer (PE), LEED Accredited Professional, AutoCAD Civil 3D Certified Professional, or other professional licensure/certifications
