Position Summary: Gator Grading & Paving, LLC is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Director to lead our safety operations across multiple construction sites. This role is responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting field audits, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of OSHA and Department of Labor regulations and a passion for creating an “Incident Free” work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, including OSHA and Department of Labor standards
Provide safety support across diverse construction sites to maintain a safe and healthful work environment
Identify safety needs and implement policies and procedures to achieve an “Incident Free” workplace
Lead safety committee, offering technical expertise and promoting a safety-first culture
Develop, recommend, and implement improvements to safety policies and procedures
Conduct field audits and provide feedback to project and division managers
Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions
Document and manage site safety audits, and inspections, including corrective measures taken
Train site personnel on safety requirements and ensure job-specific training is completed
Ensure all employees are educated on the company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy and safety standards
Identify and address hazardous conditions or practices on job sites
Maintain site-specific Safety Data Sheet (SDS) logbooks and ensure proper distribution
Organize and lead company-wide safety meetings and training
Monitor compliance of weekly toolbox talks
Provide OSHA instruction and ensure ongoing compliance
Obtain and maintain certifications including OSHA and Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
Qualifications and Skills
Background in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field
3–5 years of safety experience in the construction industry
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST, or equivalent certification preferred
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices, specifically in underground water utilities and asphalt paving operations.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to travel to various job sites as needed
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
