Our Financial Services EY EDGE practice provides dedicated tax technical services to both US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine, a technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience. The State and Local (“SALT”) team is a growing practice. As a Tax Senior Manager, you will immerse yourself in the evolving state and local tax environment, serving hedge fund, private equity, banking, and real estate clients.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.

Identify potential opportunities and risks and communicate these to clients.

Research current market trends to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisor.

Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve clients’ tax activities.

Research clients’ business operations and build long‑lasting relationships to tailor your advice.

Supervise a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.

Skills and Attributes for Success

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.

CPA, licensed Attorney or EA.

Minimum of 8 years professional knowledge in a broad range of state and local Income/Franchise tax processes, concepts and tools.

Experience managing budgets, people and projects.

A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.

Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.

The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.

Strong influencing skills, and confidence to question existing processes.

Ideally, you will also have

A proven record in a professional services environment or in‑house experience in a wealth and asset management company.

Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, and/or Premium Pro.

Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

Ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members.

What We Offer You

Comprehensive compensation and benefits that reward performance and recognize value. Base salary ranges: $132,700–$303,200 (all U.S. locations); $159,300–$344,600 (New York City, Washington, California, excluding Sacramento). Individual salaries determined by a wide variety of factors.

Hybrid model: majority of external, client‑serving roles work in person 40–60% of the time.
