Senior Paving Construction Inspector

We are initiating a search for a Senior Paving Construction Inspector to help oversee multiple types of urban and rural pavement rehabilitation or preservation projects with construction values ranging from $1–$25 million. This position can be based out of Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH. The inspector will oversee various work elements including asphalt shimming, milling, reclaiming, filling, compacting, drainage improvements, striping and other incidental items. The inspector will report to the Resident Engineer and may routinely or periodically act as their representative, depending on experience.
Your Impact
Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings.
Mentoring or supervising other inspectors on behalf of the resident engineer or project manager.
Completing daily reports, measuring and calculating unit price quantities.
Coordinating independent material sampling and testing.
Monitoring maintenance of traffic.
Taking and compiling photographs for tracking of daily progress.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma.
9 years of applicable experience.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
Valid driver's license.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
NETTCP HMA certifications, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
Average proficiency with MS Word Suite.
Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems. Knowledge of Bluebeam.
Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
