Role Overview The position functions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team under the direct supervision of a SUDP, providing support and mentoring to individuals in finding and living their journey to health, wellness, and recovery. The role promotes a recovery‑oriented, person‑centered treatment experience by participating in treatment planning, documentation and implementation, milieu management, and crisis de‑escalation.

Key Responsibilities

Engage individuals in a professional and open manner.

Facilitate or co‑facilitate SUD groups as an active participant to encourage and support individuals in recovery.

Share personal stories of successful recovery.

Help individuals develop confidence and hope.

Provide all services with respect for cultural diversity and in the least intrusive way.

Interact with on‑site healthcare providers to ensure solid partnership and quality client care.

Education

High School Diploma or GED with continuing education in the mental health field such as the Peer‑to‑Peer Counselor Program.

Proof of registration as a counselor with the State of Washington.

Achieve certification as a Peer Counselor within 12 months of hire.

Experience

Compassionate understanding of substance use disorders as a disease.

Preference for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.
