Primary Responsibilities
Complete mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwriting.
Evaluate loan requests, analyze financial data, and determine qualification of collateral and customer credit history.
Maintain contact with loan customers, communicate loan progress, and obtain required documentation.
Structure loans to comply with lending practices and federal regulations.
Establish and execute a marketing/business plan; identify potential and existing customers, realtors, builders, developers, and maintain regular contact.
Answer customer calls and walk‑in inquiries regarding loan products and qualification.
Make sales calls to existing and potential customers per the marketing plan to develop new business or retain existing business.
Cross‑sell additional bank products and services.
Review surveys and appraisals; take steps to address encroachments and violations.
Participate in networking activities through professional, business, and community organizations to promote loan products.
This position requires tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 per week under FLSA.
Commission‑based compensation typically ranges from $20,000 to $100,000+ annually, depending on location, performance, and production.
Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) is required.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
One year of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage production.
Extensive experience developing external business via referral partners (e.g., realtors, builders, financial planners).
Preferences
Bachelor’s degree.
Prior Mortgage Loan Officer experience.
Recent proven production of $10M or greater annually.
Skills And Competencies
Good organizational skills.
Knowledge of mortgage products, systems, terminology, tax requirements, and down payment assistance programs.
Knowledge of agency and investor regulations and guidelines.
Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships to deliver high levels of service.
Ability to multi‑task competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Sales acumen.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
