Position Title Sales Engineer

Position Location Nashville, TN

Position Type Remote near target locations

Compensation $100,000 - $134,000 +25% SIP (Compensation depends on skills, knowledge, education, and experience)

Position Snapshot The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving new customer acquisitions and expanding existing OEM accounts within target markets by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, executing strategic sales plans, and delivering technical presentations. Working closely with the Channel Sales team, the Sales Engineer actively supports distributor performance to ensure alignment within strategic objectives. The Sales Engineer collaborates with internal teams and must acquire a solid understanding of Lenze’s technical solutions and market trends.

About you You’re an outgoing, results-driven sales professional with at least 5 years’ experience in automation technology. You thrive on hitting targets, driving growth, and building lasting customer relationships. You take initiative, own your performance, and actively contribute to team success. You are never satisfied with the status quo and are committed to exceeding the bar.

A day in the life New Customer Acquisition Proactively pursue new OEM customer opportunities and develop strategic plans to penetrate new accounts and grow market share. Conduct prospecting activities like cold calls and networking and collaborating with local channel managers and distribution networks when appropriate. Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations and work with local application engineering resources to meet customers' technical needs.

Account Expansion Strengthen relationships with existing customers to uncover new applications and upselling opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams to tailor solutions and expand wallet share within current accounts. Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively address issues to ensure long-term loyalty.

Sales Strategy & Execution Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and manage them through the sales cycle. Achieve or exceed annual sales targets. Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to leadership.

Technical Expertise & Support Coordinate technical resources for customers, highlighting how the customer will benefit from a Lenze solution. Stay current on product developments, industry trends, and competitor offerings. Support product launches and customer onboarding with hands-on technical guidance.

Collaboration & Reporting Work closely with product management, engineering, and marketing to align customer needs with company capabilities. Document customer interactions, feedback, and sales activities in CRM systems. Participate and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements What you will need:

Bachelor’s degree or related work experience

5+ years of technical sales or related experience

Demonstrated success hunting new OEM customers and expanding sales at existing accounts

History of documented sales growth in similar role

Strong understanding of gearmotors, VFD’s, servo drive systems and/or general motion control

Proven experience in technical sales, or business development within the automation sector

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with engineering teams and decision-makers

Skilled in pipeline management and CRM usage

Willingness to travel 30% of the time for customer visits, trade shows, and training sessions

Skilled in managing complex commercial situations

Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP, preferred
