Job Overview
FAR Inspections, a Reno, NV based company with over 9 years of experience, is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors can earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to:
Verify property occupancy.
Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Finish each inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Fill out a short form in the app.
Be able to spend extended periods driving, making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, the role earns the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour .
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you could complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates, higher‑volume counties lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
