FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in a mobile app.
Work regularly within a county; split county with another inspector if volume requires.
Spend extended periods driving while making frequent stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Typical inspection duration is 5‑6 minutes.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; gas is paid for by contractor).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour. Depending on the county—urban or rural—you may complete from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2 to 30 hours per week. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
