The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $85,300.00 to $142,200.00. Rewards and Benefits

The Senior Income Tax Analyst manages state income tax compliance and reporting, including preparing and analyzing tax files and schedules while partnering with our Big Four cosourcing provider and external auditors. The role supports quarterly and annual state corporate income tax provision reporting under US GAAP (ASC 740), researches and interprets complex tax issues, and monitors legislative changes to assess potential impacts. The analyst interfaces with cross‑functional teams to gather information, communicate tax implications, and assist with audit defense, tax planning, and other strategic projects. Additionally, the position drives process improvements by preparing analytics for internal and external partners and leveraging technology tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. You Will

Prepare and analyze state tax files and schedules by applying established compliance standards to ensure accuracy and partner with Big Four cosourcing providers and external auditors to maintain alignment and transparency. Monitor and analyze changes in tax legislation to proactively identify potential impacts on Grainger's operations and recommend adjustments to maintain compliance and mitigate risk. Research and interpret complex tax issues to provide clear guidance on applying tax law to specific facts and transactions, ensuring informed decision‑making. Prepare and assist with quarterly and annual state corporate income tax provision reporting under US GAAP and ASC 740 rules to support accurate financial statements and regulatory compliance. Evaluate state tax legislation changes to determine income tax accounting implications and communicate findings to stakeholders for timely action. Interface with cross‑functional teams and business partners to gather necessary data and explain potential tax impacts, fostering collaboration and informed planning. Support audit defense, tax planning, and other tax projects by providing documentation and analysis that strengthen compliance and strategic positioning. Develop analytics for internal and external partners and leverage technology tools to optimize processes, driving efficiency and accuracy while assessing emerging solutions for continuous improvement. You Have

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, finance, taxation or related field required. 3+ years Income tax or related experience required. 3+ years State Income experience as applicable with public accounting or large multinational corporations preferred. Financial and operating management (Beginner proficiency). Proficient with Microsoft Office products specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel including Power Query (Intermediate proficiency). Familiar with Corporate Tax concepts and principles (Beginner proficiency). Corptax, Alterx, Power BI, Smartsheet and Microsoft Co‑Pilot skills preferred (Beginner proficiency). Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire preferred.
