Reports To Operations Supervisor
Responsibilities
Operate vehicle in accordance with Lakeshore Waste Services safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT requirements and all local, state, and federal laws.
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and document checks utilizing the standard DVIR.
Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager.
Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement.
Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on service list.
Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed.
Position and return containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced.
Ensure doors are closed and secured and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and check-out process.
Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Perform other job duties as required.
Qualifications
Eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain one prior to hire.
Must not have any DUI’s or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years.
No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to stand and walk.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Sporadic local travel required.
$27 an hour
