Reports To Operations Supervisor

Role

Operate heavy‑duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment.

Provide pickup service of containers filled with waste or recyclable materials, which may weigh in excess of 1,000 pounds.

Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity.

Navigate high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots.

Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers to successfully complete job tasks.

Operate vehicle in accordance with Lakeshore Waste Services safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT requirements, and all applicable laws.

Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR.

Report unsafe situations or service‑related issues immediately to the Route Manager or Dispatch.

Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.

Work closely with the Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.

Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.

Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.

Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement.

Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles with the service level.

Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.

Submit customer tickets when excessive yardage must be removed.

Position and return containers on the customer’s property ensuring lids are properly replaced.

Ensure doors are closed and secured and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.

Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.

Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

Eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

At least 18 years of age.

Valid Class B CDL.

Valid DOT medical card (or obtain prior to hire).

No DUI/OVI within last 5 years (or two in last 10 years).

No license suspensions within last 2 years.

No more than three moving violations within last 2 years.

Successfully complete pre‑employment testing.

Good English reading, speaking, listening, and writing.

Physical Requirements

Regularly sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

Occasionally stand and walk.

Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Sporadic local travel required.

Compensation: $27 per hour.
